Why you should respond to this survey. - Back to the Survey
In these rapidly changing and challenging times many self-employed photographers, illustrators and graphic designers are finding it necessary to modify their business strategies. Some are turning to assignments. Others support themselves with income from other non-related businesses. For them, their creative activities are a secondary income source. Amateurs who never expect to earn a living from photography, illustration or graphic design are discovering that these activities can be an important source of extra income as well as an enjoyable hobby.
To properly plan for the future, all these people need the industry trend data this survey is designed to provide. If you earned money in 2008 from selling or licensing your images -- be it a few hundred dollars or tens of thousands – this survey is for you. Please respond to the nine simple questions. The survey will be open until April 15, 2009. The results and in-depth analysis will be made available at www.jimpickerell.com. To review the results of the 2007 survey, go to: http://www.jimpickerell.com/articles2/admin-article-view.asp?id=2022
The data will be tabulated by Jim Pickerell who has been active in the industry as a photographer for more than 45 years. He is a regular contributor to the newsletter Selling Stock. For more on Pickerell's background see http://www.jimpickerell.com/about.asp. If you have other questions or would like to comment on this survey Jim Pickerell can be contacted at jim@scphotos.com.
All responses will be held in strictest confidence and no attempt will be made to identify specific individuals.
